Michael Ferris

Michael Ferris has been a founder, chairman, and CEO of several companies throughout his 20-year career. As a former college athlete and 2011 winner and judge of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year program, Ferris leads the firm cercatrovaholdings.com and its two fast-growing companies, Occam Technology Group and Abacode. Both firms represent the best and brightest with forward-looking technologies and global influence.

Ray Carr

Ray Carr is an expert in embedded control systems design and development for medical, military, marine, and micro-controller systems. Among many awards and over a dozen domestic and international patents, Carr holds a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida, and double majored graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering in Bio-Medical and Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Gordon Ryerson

Gordon Ryerson has over 20 years of experience in the life science industry, establishing the US office of Novumed GmbH, an IP consulting and advisory firm, and co-founding Crosstree Capital Partners, a life science investment bank. Ryerson also established the Corporate Finance Department of William R. Hough & Co.’s (Royal Bank of Canada) healthcare practice and was an officer in the United States Navy. He received an MBA from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Auburn University.

Roger Tipton
Executive Director

Roger Tipton has over 20 years of experience as engineering manager and industrial/ manufacturing engineer in consumer and automotive industry. Roger studied Yacht Design at the Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology, holds a Bachelors in Materials Science and Engineering from Ohio State University,  and a Masters in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of South Florida. He is currently completing a PhD in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of South Florida.


Mark Kelly

Mark Kelly brings 30 years of engineering experience to the company. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in biology from Tufts University in addition to an MBA and a Master in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Andrew Kivela
Director, Program Management

Andrew has over 12 years of analytical experience. He is a veteran of the US Army Military Intelligence Corps and served as an operations research and systems analyst supporting EOD and Special Forces in Afghanistan. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida and an associate degree in Korean from the Defense Language Institute.

Markus Vogel

Markus Vogel has over 10 years management experience in various industries, focusing on business, marketing, and management information systems strategies. Markus holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems, as well as a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship in Applied Technologies program from the University of South Florida.

Bob Moreno

Bob has more than 25 years of experience in the medical field working for Corometrics Medical Systems, Marquette Medical, and GE Healthcare. Bob earned Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Charter Oak State College in Connecticut.

Adrienne Lytle

Adrienne Lytle has more than 10 years of management experience spanning several industries, ranging from commercial to retail applications. She has earned a Bachelor in Sociology with Minor in Merchandising from Florida State University.

Ron Baerg

For over 26 years Ron has created embedded device software for medical, commercial, and consumer applications, as well as leading teams of engineers in the creation of safety-critical software. The early years of his career were at Environmental Technologies, designing and creating the software for environmental control systems.

Jody Baudoin

Jody Baudoin has more than 25 years of software development experience on a variety of platforms, including Embedded Systems and General Purpose system applications. Solutions often included a networking component using a variety of transports.

Andrew Deweerd

Andrew DeWeerd has an electrical engineering degree from Villanova University. He’s designed hundreds of salable products over 25 years of continuous design experience. Besides original schematic design and PCB layout, Andrew has written firmware for nearly every family of processor, as well as programmable logic, and often also creates accompanying PC Windows applications in C#. Andrew has designed products for GE, Lockheed Martin Marietta US branchesand foreign militaries, and founded his own engineering consulting company. He’s named on numerous patents.

David Do

Certified Six Sigma Engineer, 20 + yrs, experience in medical device. Highly skilled on R&D, fabrication and build prototype on medical device, Verification & Validation test protocol & Reliability test. Building automated test fixtures for life testing, and experience with testing devices in HALT/HASS chambers, and destructive and non-destructive reliability test methods.

Bob Fugerer

Robert Fugerer has more than 30 years of overlapping experience in embedded hardware and firmware engineering for electro-optical sensors, control systems, digital signal processing, aerospace instrumentation, and energy efficient LED lighting. Bob earned Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Management from The University of Alabama, and The University of Tennessee, respectively.

Kurt Holmquist

Kurt Holmquist has more than 35 years of experience in development of embedded software and related products and systems primarily in the areas of data communications, medical devices and space electronics.  He is inventor/co-inventor on 32 U. S. patents.  Kurt has a BSEE from the U. S. Naval Academy and an MSEE from the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School.

Wally Kowalski, PhD

Wally Kowalski consults on air cleaning design and construction, and retrofit projects, for hospitals and commercial buildings, as well as product development for the UV industry. He is currently engaged in research on UV genomics and R&D for ultraviolet germicidal irradiation systems for hospital infection control.

Jason Mastropietro

Jason Mastropietro has over 15 years of engineering experience in a broad range of industries primarily serving as a software engineer. He has delivered products and updates in the medical industry including record and verify software for external beam radiation oncology, and developed a custom Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) used to manage a 200-person laboratory. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, both from Johns Hopkins University as well as a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering from Grove City College. 

Mark Moyer

Mark has over 15 years of experience in spearheading quality programs for major medical companies and renowned universities. Mark holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University – Ponoma, as well as a MBA from the University of San Diego.

John Ringdahl

John Ringdahl has accumulated many years of experience within the military industrial establishment from 1966 through 2005 for Sperry Systems, Paramax, Hercules Inc, and then Alliant TechSystems retiring December 2005. Various levels of security clearances were granted during this time.

Greg Sandoe

Greg’s career path decisions were designed to acquire a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the complete product development process which spans from gathering customer requirements to delivering finished devices. Greg’s experience includes project management, systems engineering & design for medical and commercial devices, application software and embedded system software design and development.

Tom Scharf

Tom Scharf has over 30 years of experience in software engineering and electrical design of embedded systems. He has worked in a variety of industries including medical, military, and industrial controls for Fortune 500 companies, international companies, and local small businesses. He has completed designs for the Hubble Space Telescope and brought several medical products to market. Tom is a BSEE from West Virginia University.

Charles Scott

Charles Scott is an experienced validation engineer for medical manufacturing and research and development engineering. He has experience in sustaining engineering, new product development (R&D) and CAPA failure analysis. Charles has a strong aptitude for problem solving and root-cause analysis using creativity and innovation.

Chris Seltzer

Seltzer has 45 years of experience in electronics, over twenty in medical, designing and developing products for medical, industrial, and military markets. He has CID certification, from the IPC Association, for his primary role, PCB design. Chris specializes in reduced layer count Rigid, Rigid/Flex and Flex PCBs for embedded control systems, with mixed analog, digital and power circuits.

Carlos Vincente

Carlos is thoroughly familiar with operational and design aspects of electronic devices. Extensive experience working on Military Embedded Computer Systems, Electronic Medical Instruments, Computer Automated Test Systems, Automated Industrial Systems, NIST Traceable Calibrations of Electrical and Mechanical Systems, Automated Food Service Equipment, and Automated Science Laboratory Systems.

Andrea Wesser-Brawner

Andrea Wesser-Brawner has assisted thousands of entrepreneurs, research faculty and others in starting technology companies, pursuing federal funding for R&D, and generating revenues. Andrea earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Central Florida.

Christisn Vincente is an electrical engineering student at Hillsborough Community College. Vincente will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineer in 2020.
